Giving Back To Their Waters: Impact Fenders on donating to the Colorado Invasive Species Program
The program is important to the company because it strives to
help keep waterways clean and healthy.
DURANGO, Colo. (April 2020): Impact Fenders, a custom boat fender, and dock bumper company, donates a percentage of its profits to the Colorado Invasive Species Program. Invasive species are plants, animals, insects, or diseases that are not native to Colorado and have harmful effects on the environment.
According to the Colorado Parks & Wildlife webpage, The Invasive Species Program Mission is to protect natural resources, outdoor recreation, infrastructure, and the economy. This mission is important to Impact because aquatic nuisance species invade lakes, reservoirs, rivers, and streams. Many invasive species consume excessive amounts of water and reduce the supply. They also can change the physical characteristics of land and water, change food chains, and destroy habitats.
“We are very concerned with the aquatic nuisance species. We want to keep our waterways clean and healthy for recreational use,” says co-founder. Brian Slaughter.
The Colorado Invasive Species Program fought to pass the State Aquatic Nuisance Species Act in 2008. The Act makes it illegal to possess, import, export, ship, transport, release, plant, place, or cause an aquatic nuisance species to be released in Colorado.
“We want to do our part for the planet. If we look after the earth, then the earth will look after us,” says co-founder. Courtney Gates.
